actor, theatre stage manager, librettist (translator), not a composer of music, 14.jan.1789 baptized at Saint Luke in Chelsea, 1806 made his debut as actor at the Bath Theatre, 1813 he became actor of the Covent Garden Theatre, 1827 as stage manager of an English opera company he performed a season in France which was so unsuccessful that the actors hardly managed to get back to England, 1830 he still played at Covent Garden, 28.sep.1835 debuted as actor in America at the Park Theatre in New York, 1.jun.1843 residing at 63 Murray Street in New York Manhattan, he died from a stroke while playing in 'The Apostle', the audience thought his stroke was part of the play
