musician, of the well-known Washington family including judge Marcus W Acheson, judge Alexander W Acheson and Congressman Ernest F Acheson, 23.may.1853 appointed postmaster in Washington, 1860 as musician boarding with banker Jesse Williams in Fairfield Jefferson Iowa, 30.jul.1863 as married grocer he was enlisted for military service in the Civil War stationed at Fairfield Jefferson, until c1876 active as musician and engaged in grocery business in Fairfield, after his wife had died after the birth of their third child 21.aug.1876 he left Fairfield, 1887-1890 he was salesman at 433 Wood Street and residing at 220 Lacock Street in Pittsburgh, before he died he had been invalid for some years as the result of paralysis, 29.feb.1896 he was buried from the house of his brother-in-law Rev. James L Brownson in Washington at the family graves in Washington Cemetery ; son of state-wide large store owner David Acheson (Ireland, Glassdrummond 8.may.1769-1.dec.1851 Pennsylvania Washington, Washington) and Mary Cunningham Wilson (Pennsylvania, Philadelphia 30.nov.1787-2.aug.1872 Pennsylvania Washington, Washington) ; 1863 in Fairfield Iowa he married teacher Sarah Jane 'Jennie' Carey (Ireland, Londonderry 1835-1876 Fairfield) ; grand-grand uncle of composer Marcus Wilson Acheson III
