pianist, studied with Annie Glen Broder in Calgary and Ernest Hutcheson and Rossiter G Cole in New York City, she was Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM), she taught piano, harmony and music history, 1945-1968 as music teacher residing with her sisters Jeanne, Gertrude and Grace at 819 17th Avenue in Calgary, aged 80 she is still listed as pianist Jessie Ackland in the 1981 'Who's Who in music in Calgary' ; daughter of salesman William Albert Ackland (Ontario, Delta 17.sep.1874-) and Amanda 'Mandy' Matilda McCallum (Ontario, Burnstown 17.dec.1870-21.dec.1940 Calgary) who married 20.dec.1894 in Renfrew ; sister of composer Jeanne Ackland (1914-) ; she and her 3 sisters never married
