arranger, grew up in Wichita Kansas, studied piano and composition with his mother, 1929 graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick NJ, studied at Columbia Teachers College in New York City, studied privately with Tertius Noble and Tibor Serly, 1932-1936 arranger for Irving Berlin publishing, 1937-1952 arranger for Fred Waring radio and tv shows, and until 1975 as arranger with several music publishers for Waring's Shawnee Press, leaving numerous choral and band arrangements to his name, 1975-2003 retired to Stuart Florida, 2003 moved to Schenectady, buried at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands NY ; son of head music department Friends University Lucius Ward Ades (Kansas, Glencoe 6.jul.1883-nov.1952 NY Long Island, Brightwaters) and pianist/organist/music teacher Mary Hawley Findley (Illinois, Carthage 21.aug.1883-7.may.1961 NY Long Island, Bay Shore) who married 1.jan.1906 in Wichita ; 10.feb.1932 in Albany he married Olga Beauman (NJ, Asbury Park 22.oct.1908-21.may.1993 Stuart)
