violinist, conductor, 1882 studied violin with Krasnokutsky in Odessa, Leopold Auer in Petrograd and Jakob Dont in Vienna, studied composition with Aleksandr Rubtsov in Petrograd and Robert Fuchs in Vienna, 1890-1898 made many successful concert tours as violinist, 1898 organizer and conductor of symphonic concerts in Poltava, 1899 appointed director of the newly established Poltava branch of the Imperial Russian Musical Society, 1916 chairman of the National Russian Musical Society in Poltava, 1925 founder and conductor of the Voronezh State Symphony Orchestra
