cellist, pianist, piano teacher, 1847 studied violin at Brussel Conservarory but was persuaded by Servais to study the cello instead, and in 2 years took a second and soon after a first prize, early in life he used the name Cesar Alard, after 1870 Charles Alard, from Brussel he went to England, travelled with Jullien's orchestra as solo cellist, after concert tours for several years he played with Pasdeloup in Paris, 1866 he went to Havana, 1868 to New York and 1870 returned to Paris where he was active as piano teacher, 1883 his pupils were Alphonse Thuillier, Marcel Bodrot, Leon Lafleche, Georges Lafleche, Joseph Jarriant, Albert Aumont, Eugene Breton, Armand de Valdrome, Gustave Aumont, 1889 residing at Rue de Clichy 781 in Paris, at time of death residing at Rue Blanche 72 in Paris, 29.aug.1890 he was buried at Cimetiere de Montmartre ; son of Felix Alard (Gosselies 1.jan.1792-11.aug.1853 Gosselies) and Beatrix Caroline Gillaine Denison (Gosselies 14.mar.1799-7.nov.1877 Gosselies) ; 18.sep.1860 in Paris Saint-Maur-des-Fosses he married singer Marie Louise Josephine Emilie Guerette (Brugge 27.jun.1834-1889 ?Paris)
