violinist, bandmaster, received his first music lessons from his father and his uncle Bernabe Alcala who adopted him, from the age of 10 he was member of theater orchestras, 1869 studied music privately with Pablo Sanchez, 1874 he led a season of italian opera in Oaxaca, 1876 appointed bandmaster of Banda de Musica de Artilleria with garrison in Oaxaca, 1880-1882 titular bandmaster of Banda de Musica del Estado, 1882 studied harmony, counterpoint, fugue and composition with Melesio Morales at the Mexico National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City, back in Oaxaca he formed his own dance orchestra which he led until his death ; son of composer Macedonio Alcala
