organist, pianist, conductor, his parents had moved from Friesland shortly before his birth, he received his first music lessons from his mother, 1901-1909 studied organ, gregorian and church music with Hubert Cuypers, also studied at the Amsterdamsch Conservatorium, piano and organ with Jean Baptiste de Pauw, harmony with Jan Willem Kersbergen, solfege with Anton Tiergrie, instrumentation with Sem Dresden, 1.oct.1909 aged 15 he was appointed organist of the Sint Nicolaaskerk in Muiden, later of the Capucijnerkerk Lijnbaansgracht, 1914 of the Maria Magdalena church and the church at Chassestraat Amsterdam, he founded music schools in Amsterdam and in Hilversum and was director of a piano and organ shop, 1964 residing at Linneausparkweg 18 in Amsterdam, 6.jun.1964 on his 70th birthday he received the gold medal of honor of the St Gregoriusvereniging Amsterdam, he was the inventor of Musicolor, a system to read music without the need to study music notation (the system was total abacadabra to the ordinary music reader)
