writer of children's books, poet, lyricist, librettist, he only composed the music for some early works, his earliest known writing was the children's song 'Pussies, wake, and with me play' from the Franklin Square song collection I (1881) printed in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle 17 Apr 1898, his 'Marjory-Joe' series of children's books (1911-) were hugely successful throughout the US for many years, he was still living 1933, the undated photograph followed by his poem is from the Klamath News 6 May 1941 of Klamath Falls Oregon
