organist, choirmaster, spent his youth in Omaha where he studied piano under J E Butler and Ella E Free, studied organ with his father in Omaha and with William E Zeuch in Chicago, assistant teacher of piano under Mrs. Crosby Adams in Chicago, businessman in Chicago keeping music as an avocation and later decided to devote entire time to music, for some years prior to leaving Chicago he was organist and choirmaster of the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 1920 organist of the First Methodist Church in Pasadena California, member American Guild of Organists and the Musicians Club of Los Angeles, 1910-1940 residing at 271 South Hudson Avenue in Los Angeles Pasadena ; son of cashier Henry Halleck Allen (Ohio, Sylvania 26.jul.1857-a1930 Omaha) and Exana Eudora Cochran (Wisconsin, Baraboo 20.jan.1854-24.feb.1926 Omaha) ; 1907 he married Grace Louise Webster (NY, Apulia 6.sep.1883-30.jan.1987 Pasadena)
