Jewish choral conductor, 1884 aged 16 he sung in synagogues and composed songs, 1897 studied music at Odessa Conservatory, 1904 emigrated to England London to flee the pogroms of Kishinev, studied composition with Hamilton Robinson at the Guildhall School of Music in London, took associate's diploma from the Royal College of Music London, 1910 residing at 129 Sandringham Road in London Hackney, 1912 choirmaster at Dalston Synagogue and the New Jewish Theatre in London, 1917-1947 choral conductor at Hampstead Synagogue London, 1935 at the Great Synagogue, Bayswater Synagogue and the Halevi Choral Society, 1935-1947 residing at 29 Christchurch Avenue in London Willesden ; 1904 he married Cilia 'Cily' (Russia 1885-a1962 London Willesden)
