pianist, conductor of light opera and musical comedy companies, 1900 residing with his parents in Casselton, 28.sep.1908 as pianist he made a winter tour with the Malchow Orchestra of Oakes North Dakota, 1913 still pianist with the Malchow Orchestra while residing in Casselton, 29.mar.1913 as pianist he emigrated to Fort William Ontario Canada, 1918 residing in Casselton and musical director at the Empire Theatre in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada, 1921 residing in Regina Saskatchewan Canada where he was conductor at the Regina Theatre, from 1922 he dropped the W. from his name, 1930 as composer of advertising theme songs for Savannah firms residing in Savannah Georgia, 1931 he spent some days in Charlotte advertising theme songs for Charlotte firms on radio station WBT, 1932 active in Charlotte North Carolina, 1932-1948 residing at 908 2nd Avenue in Minneapolis, 1940 orchestral conductor at the Holland Hotel and Delta Hotel Minneapolis, 1943 residing in Fort William Ontario Canada ; son of painter Joseph D Ames (Maine 19.sep.1855-9.jun.1924 Casselton) and Margaret O'Neil (Canada Ontario, Kingsbridge 10.aug.1854-30.aug.1911 Casselton) ; he married Jessie Frayer O'Neil (Canada Ontario, Thunder Bay 31.aug.1895-15.sep.1956 Minneapolis)
