clarinetist, cornetist, bandmaster, his mother died upon giving birth to him, 1867 his father moved to Lyons Michigan, 1877 aged 12 played euphonium in the Lyons Municipal Band, moved to Cleveland where he played in Brainard's Band and studied clarinet, 1880 he worked in his father woolen mill in Lyons, 1886 bandmaster of Powell's Band of Stanton Michigan, bandmaster of Wright's Opera House Band in Alma Michigan, 1890 studied cornet with Joseph Bernard Claus and piano tuning at New England Conservatory in Boston Massachusetts, bandmaster of the Arion Band in Oshkosh Wisconsin, 1899 made a tour with the Keith Vaudeville Circuit where he became famous for playing different melodies on 2 cornets simultaneously and also had acts on the harp, xylophone, ocarina, clarinet, mandolin, guitar, violin, fife, accordion, musette, banjo and saxophone, 1900 cornetist and assistant bandmaster of Orion Farrar's Band in Youngstown Ohio, 1900 bandmaster of the Springfield Cadet Band and General Sherman's 3rd Regimant Band in Springfield Massachusetts, 1910 bandmaster of the 3rd Regiment Band of the Michigan National Guard in Marinette Wisconsin, 1912 bandmaster of the Saginaw City Band, the seasons of 1923-1925 he played with this band at Casino Burgoyne in Daytona Florida, he died at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit Michigan while residing at 1022 Hoyt Street in Saginaw ; son of Albert Amsden (NY, Marion 18.dec.1823-28.sep.1883 Lyons) and Sarah Catherine Joslin (NY, Victor 10.oct.1828-1865 Joliet) ; 23.sep.1886 in Lyons he married Agnes Grace Halstead (Lyons 24.sep.1867-1941 Florida, Daytona Beach)
