pianist, professor of piano, 1842-1854 grew up in Strasbourg, 1854-1857 graduated in piano under Chol from the Conservatoire National de Paris, 1857-1862 member of Comite Central des Artistes in Paris, 10.jan.1858 debuted as concert pianist 'with rare perfection' at salons de notre confrere l'Europe artiste in Paris, 2.mar.1861 concerted at Salle Erard in Paris, 8.dec.1862 in Mulhouse Alsace, 24.apr.1864 he was awarded a honorable mention at a composition concours for chorus of four male voices and saxhorns under the auspices of Adolphe Sax, 1869 professor of music at Ecole de la rue de Louvain and Ecole de la rue Rebeval in Paris, 14.may.1872 in Paris he opted for French nationality after Germany had annexed Alsace, 22.feb.1880 he gave a concert for the benefit of young orphans at salon des Bains in Dieppe, 19.feb.1882, 11.feb.1885 and 26.apr.1885 he gave concerts in Dieppe, the latter in favor of the soldiers of Tonkin assisted by the Orpheon de la Society Philharmonique directed by Amedee Godard and the Musique Municipale under Prosper Mimart, 1883 and 1888 on invitation of Scotson Clark he gave concerts in London, 21.jun.1893 and 18.aug.1895 he gave concerts at Salle du Casino in Dieppe (he spent much time on the beach of Dieppe, hence his many concerts there) ; son of teacher of the parish school of Saint-Thomas in Strasbourg Jacques Anschutz (Niederbronn 17.aug.1809-) and Dorothee Wilhelmine Rauscher (Strasbourg 8.apr.1810-) ; brother of composer Guillaume Alfred
