amateur composer, of Scottish noble birth, hence always called Honorable or Esquire, 1778-1795 he served in the military East India Company in Bengal India, 1791-1798 residing at Chamberlain Street Verdery in Wells near Bath Somerset, 1802-1805 residing at 54 Wimpole Street, Cavendish Square in London, 1820 residing at Friar Street in Reading Berkshire ; son of Alexander Leslie Anstruther 5th Lord of Newark Fife Scotland (Newark Castle 1711-10.mar.1791 Devon, Stonehouse) and Elizabeth Prince (Devon, Parkham 1720-1794) ; 26.feb.1780 in Bengal India he married Mary Donaldson (Aberdeenshire, Allachie c1760-20.aug.1827 Bath) ; son captain Robert Lindsay (Bengal India 1786-), daughter Louisa Anne (Wells 31.oct.1791-), the last of 7 children, son Ashford John (London Westminster 29.apr.1804-)
