organist, 1859-1860 of Little Oratory in Brompton, since 1868 resident in Liverpool, organist of St Lawrence in Birkenhead, St Anne's in Edge Hill, conductor of musical societies in Widnes, Frodsham, Garston and of the St Cecilia Society in Liverpool, 1878-1880 music critic for the Liverpool Albion, 1886-1890 for Mercury, contributor to the Musical Times, co-founder of the Liverpool Sunday Society, for which he gave lectures and organised an orchestra of seventy performers, for years giving series of Sunday Concerts at St George's Hall, 1889 author of 'Half a century of music in Liverpool'
