violinist, conductor, 1893 graduated from St Petersburg Conservatory where he studied violin with Leopold Auer and composition with Anatol Lyadov, 1896 conductor of opera at the Kononov Theatre in St Petersburg, 1910 at the People's House theatre in St Petersburg, 1920-1923 at Sibiryakova Theatre in Odessa, professor and rector of Odessa Conservatory, from 1923 he lived in Leningrad where he conducted the amateur choir 'Red Triangle' which he prepared for large opera productions
