harpsichordist, raised by his aunt singer Susanna Cibber (1714-1766), 20.feb.1750 he debuted as singer and composer, 5.feb.1751 debuted as organist at Haymarket Theatre after which he remained active as instrumentalist only and as composer for theatres ; son of Thomas Augustine Arne and soprano Cecilia Young ; 5.nov.1766 at St Mary in Lambeth he married singer Elizabeth Wright (died 1.may.1769) ; 1773 at St Giles in the Field he married his pupil Anne Venables
