violinist, cornetist, bandmaster, orchestral conductor, he made a career as circus band leader, 1901-1932 rural route mail carrier and after retirement landscape painter, band instructor for 40 years and associated with the music world for 47 years, self-made man as far as music is concerned and often has 'burned the midnight oil' in search of musical knowledge, 1900 as musician residing at 12 Adams Street, by 32.jul.1905 he had 'composed several pieces and while they may be of the popular order they exhibit musicianship of a higher degree than is generally found in this class of composition, if he will still keep burning the midnight oil, he is more than likely to make a reputation in the musico-aesthetic world' (actually those two compositions 'of the popular order' became very popular with bands, dance orchestras and mandolin clubs and were widely performed throughout the US), 1905 conductor of Arnold's Orchestra in Montpelier Indiana (William Arnold violin, V L Boyd clarinet, Charles Smith cornet, Till Sawyer trombone, Miss Jessie L Shull piano), 1905 bandmaster and cornetist of Montpelier Firemen's Band (organized 15.jul.1901), he was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery ; son of farmer Daniel L Arnold (Indiana, Jackson 5.sep.1846-3.aug.1930 Montpelier) and Henrietta Shull (Montpelier 15.jan.1849-3.jul.1878 Montpelier) ; 5.dec.1892 in Montpelier he married Eva Elnora Sweany (Indiana, Monroeville 17.sep.1866-16.oct.1962 Texas, Kilgore)
