jewish pianist, conductor, songwriter, 1888-1891 studied music/singing in Russia, 2.dec.1891 as 11 year old Itzig (diminutive for Isaac) Arinstein he emigrated with his 17 year old brother Aron from Litzingen Russia (Letychiv Ukraine) from the port of Hamburg to New York, 5.jun.1893 he sang as boy soprano in Lineff's Russian Peasant Choir at the Chicago Columbian Exposition, 1894-1898 studied piano and composition at Scharwenka Conservatory in New York, 1899 as pianist he toured with singer Nellie Melba, 1900 as 23 year old music teacher born December 1876 residing with his parents at 64 East 111th Street at Central Park north where they had moved from Manhattan Lower East Side, 1902-1903 piano and vocal studio at 2 West 120th Street Harlem, 1905 as musician residing alone at 1878 7th Avenue Manhattan, 17.nov.1914 from 133 West 113th Street he was recruting singers for a vaudeville, 1910 as musician residing with his widowed mother at 137 West 112th Street Manhattan, 1910-1911 as private music teacher residing with his mother at 122 West 114th Street Manhattan, 1914-1918 working for William Fox on Broadway, on his WWI draft he gave his birth as 12.apr.1879, 1918-1919 as music teacher residing at 62 West 40th Street and director of his Manhattan Piano School at the same address, 1918 still citizen of Germany and not yet applied for US naturalization, 1920 as music teacher residing at 34 West 95th Street Manhattan, 7.sep.1921 coaching singers at his studio 113 West 74th Street, 1925 vocal studio at 1425 Broadway, 1930 as composer of music residing at 226 West 79th Street Manhattan, 29.feb.1932 ASCAP refused him membership, 1935 employed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), 1940 as music teacher lodging at 56 West 71st Street Manhattan, 1942 member of the New York Music Union, 1942 residing at 343 West End Avenue Manhattan with studio at 27 West 76th Street, on his SSN application 1938 and his WWII draft 1942 he gave his birth falsely as 8.feb.1882, he suffered from a copyright infringement persecution mania and was called 'the court musician' by the New York Times, 1935-1949 he filed many plagiarism lawsuits (all lost) ao against E B Marks Music Co (7.jun.1935), Twentieth Century-Fox, Broadcast Music Inc (28.jul.1943), Cole Porter (1946), ASCAP (1939 and 12.mar.1949), he was cremated at Middle Village Queens with gravemarkers in Mt Zion Maspeth Queens and Mt Lebanon Glendale Queens ; son of Bernard Solomon Arnstein (-c1902 Manhattan) and Sophia (Sophie) Kozovoc (Russia mar.1853-22.feb.1919 Manhattan) ; he never married
