clarinetist, conductor, bandmaster, 1945 BS and 1961 MS from Ithaca College, 1971 studied at Cornell University in Ithaca, 1974 at St Lawrence University in Canton NY, Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts, Rutgers University in New Brunswick New Jersey and the USN Band School in Norfolk Virginia, toured Europe with her own band, she was guest conductor in the United States, Canada and Europe, the first woman guest conductor of the US Air Force Band in Washington DC, 1963 and 1964 conducted her own bands at the New York World's Fairs, director of music education in the Massena City Schools System, 1973 she played with her Massena High School Band at the plant of Wilton-Feyenoord in Schiedam Netherlands the largest shipbuilder of Europe, 1973-1976 president of Women Band Directors International, 1975 residing at 130 Christopher Circle in Ithaca ; daughter of postmaster Samuel Elton George Harris (Brushton 4.jan.1887-6.jul.1951 NY, Malone) and Esther Vecilia Gillen (Minnesota, Mankato 5.mar.1891-14.nov.1977 Malone) ; 12.nov.1948 in Ithaca she married chemist Dr. Gordon James Arquit (NY, North Lawrence 3.mar.1925-30.sep.2004 NY, Enfield)
