tenor singer, teacher of singing, studied music with Michael Arne, 1774-c1790 residing at Cursitors Street at Mr. Poroney's Tooks Court in London Holborn and 1774-1804 member of the parish of St Andrew Holborn, he first made a living as servant to Mr. Poroney and as music teacher, 14.apr.1783 he sang for the first time at Vauxhall Gardens, May/June 1784 he sang in the Handel Memorial Concerts at Westminster Abbey and the Pantheon, 1786 singer in oratorios at Drury Lane Theatre, 25.apr.1786 he sang at the Pantheon, 1787-1788 singer at the Royalty Theatre in London, 29.sep.1788 he sang there at an exhibition of Diller's Philosophical Fireworks, 1794 he had quitted the stage and lived and ran a music and musical instrument store at the inn 'Jack of Newbury' in his native town Newbury, 9.feb.1799 and 27.aug.1799 at Newbury he made his will leaving all to his wife including his store and trade of books, music and musical instruments, 19.sep.1804 his will was proved to his wife and 12.oct.1819 to his daughter Charlotte ; 8.aug.1774 at St Andrew Holborn he married Ann Smart (? bap. St Andrew Holborn 11.mar.1746-) ; children Maria, Charlotte, Sophia (bap. St Andrew Holborn 12.aug.1779-) and George Henry (Tooks Court Holborn 16.nov.1780-)
