amateur musician and painter, owner of a hotel in Douai and large estates in nothern France, 8.oct.1783 admitted at Ecole militaire, 1796-1801 he lived in exile in Rhineland Germany making a living as teacher of singing, 1809 residing in Tourmignies, 1810 he wrote his 'Memoires d'un exile 1789-1801', 1813-1820 residing in Lille, 1816-1820 active at Academie Royale de musique in Lille, 1.oct.1823 he erected a 50-foot pyramid at the entrance of his chateau in honor of the King of Spain, 1825 member of Societe des sciences et arts du departement du Nord in Lille, chevalier of the Ordre Royal et Militaire de Saint-Louis ; son of Joseph Alexandre baron d'Assignies (Tourmignies 30.mar.1720-1779 Tourmignies) and Marie Eleonore de Nedonchel (Baralle 16.feb.1739-14.apr.1801 Tournai) ; 10.aug.1808 in Lille he married Rose Victoire Boucquel de Beauval (Arras 28.jan.1778-10.feb.1855 Douai)
