Astley, John Philip Conway bap.21.may.1767-19.oct.1821 England, London Westminster - France, Paris
actor, equestrian, manager and owner of circus companies and theatres, 1773 his father opened Astley's Amphitheatre in London where he performed as equestrian, actor and later with his own company, in the 1790s he became the manager of the Amphitheatre Royal on Peter Street in Dublin where he performed many seasons with his London circus company, the 1800-1801 season he did not bring his company to the Amphitheatre in Dublin but leased it to other London companies, 1814 on the death of his father he succeeded him as manager of the Astley's Amphitheatre in London, 1817 he retired ; son of equestrian performer and circus theatre owner Philip Astley (Newcastle-under-Lyme 8.jan.1742-27.jan.1814 Paris) and Patty Jones (1844-) ; 24.dec.1800 at St Mary in London Lambeth he married dancer Miss Hannah Waldo Smith (-1843)
