songwriter, lyricist, journalist by profession, 1910 residing with his parents on a farm in Lincoln Township, Sully County, South Dakota, 1927-1933 studied journalism at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he was editor/member of the Kosmet Klub, the Varsity Quartette, the Cornhusker Staff, the Glee Club and the Varsity Party Committee, he studied trumpet with Jaroslav Cimarra, 1930 as orchestra musician residing with his parents at 516 North Sixteenth Street in Lincoln, 16.nov.1942-25.feb.1946 he served as lieutenant in WWII ; son of farmer/patrolman/merchant/bailiff Harry Earnest Ayres (Missouri Macon, Lyda 12.jan.1880-14.dec.1958 Lincoln) and Ethel Bertha Derby (Nebraska, Bellwood 3.feb.1877-) ; 27.apr.1935 he married composer Dorothy Harriet Daly (Nebraska, Wisner 24.dec.1911-2.jan.1994 Lincoln)
