recorder and viola da gamba player, born of missonary parents, 11.dec.1951 aged 3 he returned with his family from China to the USA to their residence in Catonsville Maryland, 1966 the family had moved to Philadelphia Warminster and he was educated at Council Rock High School in nearby Newtown, BME from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music Virginia, MME from New England Conservatory of Music Boston, DMA in composition from Boston University, taught in public and private schools, 1980 professor of music at Roger Williams University in Providence Rhode Island where he still lives ; son of missionary Rev. Eugene William Ayton (Canada, Toronto 12.may.1910-1.dec.1968 Warminster) and missionary Clara Frances Ward (Maryland, Chaneyville 28.sep.1908-2.oct.1999 Pennsylvania, Doylestown)
