cellist, at the age of 14 he had his first professional engagement as musician in a cafe, later cellist of the Neumunster Orchestra Schleswig-Holstein, studied cello with John de Jager cellist of the Kiel Opera House Orchestra, 27.nov.1923 emigrated with his father from Neumunster to the USA settling as musician with his uncle at 203 Weaver Street in Rochester NY, 1926 as musician residing with his parents at 1385 Lake Avenue in Rochester, 1927-1940 cellist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, 1930 boarding with his parents at 414 East First Street in Flint Michigan, 2.jun.1931 naturalized American, 12.jan.1941 he played Volkmann's cello concerto with the Normal College Symphony Orchestra at the Pease Auditorium in Ypsilanti, 1948 residing in Detroit, 1951 residing in Flint, he died in Detroit Royal Oak while residing in Detroit Highland Park ; son of composer Arthur Bachmann sr. and Elizabeth Hartung (Germany 1880-) ; 28.nov.1948 in Detroit he married Winifred Carter ; 30.jun.1951 in Detroit he married Kathleen Joyce Lanctot
