pianist, born and 29.nov.1869 baptized at the Christian church Saint Polycarp in Smyrna of French-Italian parentage with Greek nationality and Hebrew religion (his own words but contradicting with his baptism), studied music at Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella in Naples, by 1890 he had already achieved a reputation as pianist because that year Nicola van Westerhout dedicated his Capriccio per pianoforte to him, 1898 he left Naples and settled with his widowed mother in Paris, 1906-1916 still single residing with his mother at 57 Avenue Victor Hugo in Paris, 1904-1917 he was accompanist to Enrico Caruso, 13.nov.1906 still with italian nationality arrived at New York to accompany Caruso, 13.nov.1907 with french nationality arrived at New York to accompany Caruso at the Metropolitan Opera, 24.oct.1908, 16.nov.1909 (the only year he said he was married) and 5.oct.1910 arrived at New York to accompany Caruso at the Metropolitan Opera, 16.oct.1916 seems to be his last visit to New York with Caruso, 1912-1926 teacher of singing in Paris, one of his pupils was soprano Grace Moore, after 1925 he lived alternately in Paris and Monte Carlo, 1925-1930 he was pianist to the Prince of Monaco and music teacher to his children with a permanent residence at the Grand Palace in Monte Carlo, 23.nov.1936 he accompanied soprano Ellen Dosia at Salle Pleyel Paris, 1938 he settled permanently in Monte Carlo ; son of Joseph Bonaventure Barthelemy and Victoria (Victorine) Cocchino (Greece, Chios c1830-) who married 10.jul.1855 in Smyrna ; 18.aug.1923 in Monte Carlo he married Geohamy ; son George R Barthelemy possibly of an earlier marriage or affair
