guitarist, zither player, learned to play the guitar in his teens, 1838-1844 employed as draughtsman and engraver in Augsburg at the same time studying music and guitar, he studied with the Augsburg guitarist Schmozl, 1844 he quitted his job to make a living as teacher guitar, 1848 he made his first concert tour with his most talented pupil Loe, in Darmstadt they performed at the court of the Grand Duke and Duchess followed by one court after another, he made a concert tour alone in Holland and Belgium, in Dresden he played at the Royal Court Theatre and in Leipzig at the Euterpe Music Society Hall, on tour in Hamburg he met a lady who became his wife and was offered a position with the publishing firm Niemeyer, he settled in Hamburg for life, on the advise of Niemeyer he studied the zither on which he became an acknowledged expert, his most renowned guitar pupil was Otto Hammerer
