composer of about 3000 very popular salon pieces, he lived alternately in Vienna, Budapest, Zwitzerland, Leipzig and Paris, he used the pseudonyms Georges Bachmann, William Cooper, Charles Morley, Charles Godard, Francesco d'Orso, Hans von Aachen and Edwin Smith, his compositions with a french title are largely confused with the real composer Georges Bachmann but Behr published in Germany while the real Georges Bachmann published in France
