jazz saxophonist, the nickname 'Tina' was a variation of teeny/teenager, studied harmony and theory with Herbert Bourne, 1944 moved with his family to New York City, 1958-1961 he recorded for Blue Note, after 1961 his health deteriorated because of heroin addiction, he died of liver failure ; son of tailor David Worthington Brooks (NC, Red Springs 6.aug.1892-) and Cornelia W McAlister (NC 1891-) ; brother of jazz saxophonist David Kenneth 'Bubba' Brooks jr. (Fayetteville 29.may.1922-11.apr.2002 New York City)
