Burrowes, John Freckleton sr. 23.apr.1787-31.mar.1852 England, London Soho - London Marylebone
organist, pianist, 1.jun.1787 baptized at St Anne in Soho, studied music with William Horsley, 1.dec.1811 member of the Royal Society of Musicians in London, 1814-1850 organist of St James's Piccadilly London, member of the Philharmonic Society, 1834-1851 residing at 13 Nottingham Place Marylebone, 1850 still called composer of music but not organist, he did some arrangements for the organ but composed only for the more profitable piano, of his numerous compositions and arrangements none survived his own lifetime and the majority of them probably not even a few years, but his studies 'The Piano-Forte Primer' 1818 and 'The Thorough-Bass Primer' 1819 were very successful and remained in use for almost a century in England and even longer in the USA ; he married Louisa Walters (Surrey, Clapham 1798-) ; son composer John Freckleton jr.
