pianist, organist, choral conductor, 1888 studied church music with Franz Nekes at the Gregoriushaus in Aachen Germany, studied composition with Bernard Zweers at Amsterdam Conservatory, 1891 settled as organist of Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk in Amsterdam, 1898 conductor of the Alphonsuskoor in Amsterdam, 1924 conductor of Schola Cantorum in Amsterdam, 1924 of Die Haghesanghers in Den Haag, 1930 of Oratoriumvereeniging Haarlem, 1940 of boys choir De Minnestrelen in Amsterdam, for many years choirmaster of the Sint-Agneskerk in Amsterdam, he was decorated Ridder in de Orde van Sanctus Gregorius Magnus, 1927 Officier de Legion d'Honneur (France), 1953 Officier in de orde van Oranje-Nassau, 1956 Officier in de Kroonorde van Belgie, he died at retirement home Sint-Bernardus Nieuwe Passeerdersstraat 2, 26.feb.1960 the funeral masses and requiem mass were held at the Sint-Agneskerk and his burial at the family grave at R.K. kerkhof Buitenveldert ; 1.jul.1897 in Amsterdam he married Anna Mathilde Fuchs (Amsterdam 5.jan.1872-26.dec.1946 Amsterdam) ; son composer Jules Cuypers
