organist, professor of music, born at Square Northowram, 1870 aged 15 already active as apprenticed musician in Bradford where he lived with his parents at 30 All Alone Road in Idle, 1880 as professor of music and organist (possibly at his own parish church St Barnabas Kensington) residing at 92 Abingdon Road in London Kensington, 1891 as headmaster of Watford School residing at 66 Wharton Road in London Hammersmith, 1910 as professor of music residing at 7 Kingsley Mansions, Greyhound Road in London Kensington, which was probably his business address because his family resided at 8 Ravenscourt, Park Mansions in London Hammersmith, 1911 organist of St Philip's church in London Norbury, at time of death residing at 147 Bridgewater Road in London Wembley ; son of foreman stone delver John Marshall (Yorkshire, Hartshead 1821-) and Emma Robertshaw (Halifax 1822-) ; 14.jun.1879 at St Barnabas Kensington he married composer Janet Sophia Collis (Staffordshire, Penkridge 28.may.1855-27.feb.1940 Nottinghamshire, Beeston) ; son director insurance co. Gerald Collis Marshall (London Kensington 1880-), son Harold (Kensington 1881-), son Frank G (1885-), daughter Freda K (Hammersmith 1888-)

[one source gives erroneously died 1917 in active military service in World War I which is not even possible at an age of 62]
