cellist, gambist, 1967 studied cello with his father and Izabella Nagy, studied with his father at Brabants Conservatory in Tilburg, with Anner Bijlsma and Lidewij Scheifes at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, with Jaap ter Linden at Rotterdam Conservatory and with Catherina Meints at Oberlin College Ohio, member of Apollo's Fire baroque orchestra formed 1992 in Cleveland Ohio by harpsichordist/conductor Jeanette Sorrell, cellist with the Toledo Symphony and Akron Symphony, taught at Case Western Reserve University and Oberlin College ; son of cellist Gyorgy Schiffer (Hungary, Balassagyarmat 1933-), nephew of violist Ervin Schiffer (Hungary, Balassagyarmat 1932-) refugees who settled in the Netherlands in 1958
