organist, studied music with Hendrik van der Eyken, Karel Lodewijk Weidner and Georg Wilhelm Derx in Haarlem, studied organ with Johannes Gijsbertus Bastiaans in Haarlem, 1841 organist of the Remonstrantse Gemeente Haarlem, 1844 of the Janskerk in Haarlem, 1854 of the Waalse Kerk in Haarlem, until 1854 conductor of the chorus 'Liefde tot de Kunst', 1854 organist of the Zuiderkerk in Amsterdam, 1855 he gave a concert with Johannes Gijsbertus Bastiaans at the Zuiderkerk, 2.may.1859 he moved to the Prinsengracht bij de Lauriergracht Amsterdam, 12.aug.1864 he arrived at Hotel des Indes in Batavia Indonesia, 4.may.1867 he moved to the Rozengracht bij de 1ste Bloemdwarsstraat Amsterdam, 12.sep.1869 while still organist in Amsterdam he gave a concert at the Stads-Doelen in Haarlem ; son of captain civil guard/merchant in blankets/lieutenant infantry George Philippus van Suchtelen (Germany, Ritterhude 25.apr.1798-11.nov.1859 Haarlem) and Jansje Batenburg (Haarlem 6.sep.1795-24.jun.1881 Haarlem) ; 4.jul.1850 in Haarlem he married Lamberdina Catharina Elisabeth Kruseman (Haarlem 20.jun.1826-14.nov.1881 Amsterdam) ; son telegrafist/teacher bookkeeping Ferdinand Anthonius van Suchtelen jr. (Haarlem 1851-) ; son Hendrik Martinus (1854-25.may.1872, aged 18 while traveling to Java) ; daughter (Amsterdam 6.aug.1858-)
