pianist, conductor, born at 11 Windsor Terrace, studied at the Stuttgart Conservatorium, studied privately with Franklin Taylor, Clara Schumann and Joachim Raff, 1884 she won the Mendelssohn Scholarship and studied under Arthur Sullivan, Charles Villiers Stanford and John Frederick Bridge, 11.nov.1882 she played Schumann's piano concerto at the Crystal Palace London, 1884 appeared at the Monday Popular Concerts in London and with her sister pianist Alice at her father's concert in Southampton, 5.nov.1887 debuted with the Berlin Philharmonic, 1895 she gave a concert at Queens Hall entirely on musical themes suggested by the audience, before 1896 she had played in London, Leipzig, Meiningen and other places with great success ; daughter of pianist/professor of music John Evangelist Wurm (Germany, Obersdorf 1828-19.mar.1892 Southampton) and professor of music Marie Sophie Niggl (Germany, Denklingen 1833-1882 London Kensington) ; sister of composers Mathilde Verne, Alice Verne and Adela Verne
