violinist, teacher, 1933 graduated from Tilgham High School in Paducah, 1935-1938 BME from Murray State Teachers College in Murray Kentucky where he studied violin with William Fox, 1942 MM in violin with Horace Jones from the University of Colorado in Boulder, 22.jul.1942 he gave his masters recital, 1938-1939 music supervisor of the public schools in Gideon Missouri, 1939-1942 conductor at Ouachita College in Arkadelphia Arkansas and of the Arkansas Symphony in Little Rock, 1942-1945 served as bandsman in the US Navy, 1946-1969 professor of violin and orchestration at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion ; son of insurance agent Lyman B Abell (Kentucky, Morganfield 25.jan.1894-10.mar.1974 Kentucky, Paducah) and Gladys A Wilson (Graves near Paducah 1895-19.apr.1968 Paducah) ; 27.aug.1939 in Martin Tennessee he married music teacher Edith Barnes Parrish (Martin 1.oct.1916-6.mar.2006 Vermillion)
