military bandmaster, born in a peasant family, he played piano, violin and clarinet, 1897 as musician enlisted in the 7th Genie d'Avignon, studied music with Paul Vidal and Gabriel Pares, during WWI he was bandmaster of the 52nd Regiment and took part in the Battle of Loos 25.sep.1915, May 1918 he was gassed at Verdun and as wounded discharged from service, 25.oct.1917 made chevalier and 7.jul.1933 officier de la Legion d'honneur ; son of Joseph Antoine Alazard (Noves 1839-) and Rose Chabas (1843-) ; he married Berthe Dupuy (1884-1966 Avignon)

[also erroneously named Jean Alazard, probably as a confusion with the historian Jean Alazard (Lacalm Aveyron 1887-1960) of Musee des Beaux-Arts d'Alger]
