folk musician, violinist, dulcimer, hornist, pianist, organist, double bass, cello, accordion, bandmaster, 1922 received his first lessons in violin from his father, in his youth he played tenor horn in the Hundwil Band, 1939-1945 studied conducting and band music with Hans Heusser in St Gallen, as representative of a large wine business he had a lot of time to devote himself to music and to be active as teacher dulcimer, bandmaster of several bands in the Appenzell district near Hundwil, founder of string ensembles and player of dulcimer, violin, cello in many string ensembles in the Appenzeller district, from 1975 residing in Herisau, he is best remembered for what he has done for the traditional Appenzeller folk music
