violist, organist, specialized in Gregorian music, grew up in Olney Buckinghamshire, 1880 still residing with his parents in Olney, 1890 musician at the Ampleforth Roman Catholic College in Ampleforth Yorkshire, 1896 he changed his name from Herbert Alfred to Herbert Philip, 1897-1901 as private music teacher with housemaid and nursemaid residing at 32 Falkner Place in Liverpool, 1900 organist of a Roman Catholic church in Liverpool, also organist of the Roman Catholic Benedictine monastery Prinknash Abbey Gloucestershire, 1910-1938 as professor of singing with 2 servants residing at 33 Huskisson Street in Liverpool, he died aged 93 at St Josephs Hospital Carlton Road in Manchester Whalley Range and was buried at Yew Tree Cemetery Liverpool ; son of baptist minister Joseph Allen (London St Pancras 7.feb.1834-20.apr.1892 Olney) and Charlotte Elizabeth Weare (Wales Welshpool, Newtown 1840-29.oct.1918 Olney) ; 1895 in Ampleforth he married Lucy Margaret Chapman (Yorkshire, Aldborough 1870-16.dec.1956 Liverpool Crosby) ; children Arthur (Liverpool 1897-), Geoffrey B (Liverpool 1898-), Charles P (Liverpool 1900-), Renee Winifred Mary (Liverpool 1901-), John (Liverpool 1903-), Catharine (Liverpool 1906-), Barbara (Liverpool 1908-), Gabrielle Mary (Liverpool 1910-) and Roger Anthony (18.dec.1913-)
