violist, tenor singer, choral conductor, studied with Friedrich Anschutz in Herpf at the Teachers' Seminary Hildburghausen, 1867-1871 studied at the Seminary, schoolteacher at the Burgerschule in Bad Salzungen, tenor in the Salzungen church choir, violist in Martin Muhlfeld's Kammermusikvereinigung, 1884-1887 conductor of the male choir, his only published compositions have been two short piano pieces published in the Neue Musik-Zeitung 1898 and 1899 ; a ?relative Wilhelm Amthor was born 9.sep.1895 in Stepfershausen
