musician, professor of music, at least 1876-1894 residing in England but possibly born in Austria because the viennese publisher Franz Pazdirek (1848-1915) gives his name in austrian as Josef Andre so seems to have known him, the name Hermann he gave to his son also indicates a non-english descent, 1883 as actor residing at 24 Rodney Street in Birkenhead Cheshire, 1883-1884 as musical director at 100 Darlington Street in Wigan Lancashire, 1886 as professor of music at 22 Stowell Street in Manchester Salford, 1893-1894 as theatre manager and musician at 47 Yeldham Road in London Fulham, in the census of 31.mar.1901 his wife (still married) and children resided at 71 Brook Street in London Southwark but Joseph is not listed, 1907 musical director and widower of Blanche Linscott residing at 29 Delarch Buildings, district of St George the Martyr in Southwark, he seems to have left England and never returned ; son of hotel proprietor Hermann Andre ; 4.dec.1883 aged 26 in Birkenhead he married theatrical dresser Emma Blanche Linscott (London Strand 19.oct.1864-17.oct.1907 London Southwark) ; daughter Helen Emily Blanche Andre Bull (Wigan 26.oct.1883, baptized at All Saints 15.jan.1884-a1957 New Zealand, Grey Lynn), daughter Lavinia Madge (Manchester Salford 30.oct.1886, baptized at St Luke 1.nov.1886-1976 Oxfordshire, Bullingdon), son Joseph Hermann (Essex, Walthamstow 31.oct.1888, baptized at St Andrew in Fulham 12.mar.1893-1969 Dorset, Poole), daughter Dorothy Grace (London Fulham 26.dec.1893, baptized at St Andrew 21.jan.1894-1983 Dorset, Bournemouth)
