violinist, studied violin, music theory and composition at the Heller Conservatory in Berlin, 1916 debuted as violinist in public, 1920-1926 toured all continents of the world as violinist making a living as bookkeeper, 1926 he made a tour to South America, during the great depression c1932 he returned to Germany and after a few months left for South Africa, 1940 at the outbreak of WWII he was interned in Leeukop Prison but escaped after 8 months with the help of his fiancee, living throughout South Africa as fugitives for a year, 1942 they escaped to Mozambique where he was given asylum but his fiancee was deported back to South Africa where she was sentenced to 3 years in jail, 1946 they married in Mozambique, 1948 he settled with his wife in Johannesburg where he finally made a living from his music, 1949 he founded his own music printing and publishing firm Melotoongolwe (Melotone Waves), he composed nearly 400 works, dance music, marches, 3 children operettas, but the majority were songs ; son of merchant Carl Waldemar Andresen and Sophie Helene Anna Andresen nee Andresen ; 1946 in Lourenco Marques (Maputo) Mozambique he married the Afrikaans girl of Austrian descent Marthel 'Martha' Dittrich
