pianist, violinist, music publisher, 12.dec.1803 baptized at St Paul in Covent Garden, 1808 debuted as child actor in Birmingham and 1809 appeared at Theatre Royal in Manchester, 1812 quitted theatre and was apprenticed to Andrew Ward leader of the band of the Theatre Royal, 21.apr.1813 debuted as violinist at Teatre Royal, 1817 studied music at J B Logier's Music Academy in Dublin and with Friedrich Kalkbrenner and Johann Nepomuk Hummel, as pianist or violinist he played in the concerts at the Gentlemen's Concert Hall and at Sir Charles Halle's concerts at the Old Town Hall on King Street, 16.jun.1825 he engaged the '12 year old Master Liszt' at Theatre Royal, music teacher for 50 years and music publisher in Manchester, 23.feb.1885 aged 81 he gave a concert as violinist, 1880 until death residing at 14 Park Avenue in Longsight ; son of tailor/singer Andrew Burgess Hoffman alias Andrews (London Marylebone 27.jul.1772-2.feb.1837 Manchester) and Elizabeth Davies (London Marylebone 1772-) ; 22.dec.1828 at St John in Manchester he married Helen Harries (Ireland 1808-1890 Manchester) ; son composer Richard Hoffman Andrews jr. and composer Edward Hoffman Andrews
