studied music but remained an amateur musician/composer, she and her husband, a wholesale merchant and for 7 years mayor of Crockett, were very active in the First Baptist Church, 1900 residing with her husband at the home of her widowed mother, 1920 residing with husband and 3 children at Public Avenue in Crockett, 1930 residing with her husband, 3 children, her mother and a servant at 144 North Avenue in Crockett, her mother survived 3 of her 4 children ; daughter of Samuel Cyrus Arledge (Alabama, Limestone 17.jul.1847-11.aug.1898 Crockett) and Florence Josephine Johnson (Tennessee, Greene 6.nov.1853-31.jul.1942 Crockett) ; 21.dec.1898 in Houston she married wholesale merchant Charles Lanier Edmiston (Crockett 25.apr.1873-5.may.1935 Crockett) ; of 5 children their first child Jaennie died aged 1 and their fourth John Shepard was killed by a horse aged 4
