organist, Jean was his real name, Joseph may have been his religious name or a misallocation of his initial, 1883-1929 catholic chaplain of the diocese of Bordeaux and chaplain of Libourne college, 1890-1905 organist of Saint-Jean in Libourne, 1900 he published 'Rhythme dans les melodies gregoriennes', 9.dec.1905 (the date of entry into force of his pension law) he had served the church for 22 years and was probably 45 years old because that was the age at which pension could be claimed, 8.may.1908 his pension application was rejected by the Council of State (because he was not entitled to a pension over the years as chaplain of Libourne college), 1915 he served as chaplain at the temporary hospital for wounded WWI soldiers in Libourne, his article against 'le Choral a l'eglise' (and pro plainchant) in the Musique Sacree of May 1924 was highly criticized, 23.feb.1929 he was named Officier de l'instruction publique
