blind organist, 23.sep.1874 he was admitted to the institute for the blind St Henricus in Grave Brabant where he lived for the rest of his life, he was educated by the Friars there and soon played the organ, later he taught music at the institute for the blind St Henricus in Grave, 23.sep.1900 his 25-year stay at the institute was commemorated including a song specially composed for the occasion by poet Th G Nass set to music by Vondermans both blind fellow inmates at the institute ; son of farmer Jan Arts (Lith 29.aug.1837-9.jun.1879 Cromvoirt) and Wilhelmina Leijte (15.feb.1838-9.jun.1870)
