violinist, flutist, music critic, writer on music, studied flute with Jean Louis Tulou at the Conservatoire de Paris, 1846-1864 he wrote critics, prefaces and extensive historical, critical, biographical and bibliographical articles for Le Menestrel, La France musicale, Le Siecle, La Presse, l'Union musicale and La Critique Musicale, 1859-1870 correspondent to 'L'Opinion nationale', he was a zealous partisan of the italian school and many of his criticisms are biased, 1874 residing at 2 Cite Gaillard in Paris
