studied and lived in Paris and therefore best known as Fernando d'Azevedo, his operas were performed at the Lamoureux Concerts, he founded the Circee Concerts in Paris, 1878 he translated Os Lusiadas (The Lusiads) into french, 1878 printed in Lisbon, 1880 published by A Lahure in Paris, he spent most of his life abroad in diplomatic service in Paris, 1882 he was charge d'affaires du Portugal in Paris, 1884 secretary to the Portuguese ambassador in Paris, Officier de la Legion d'honneur ; 9.dec.1889 in Paris 8th arr. he married Mlle Laura Annette Ostrom (Illinois, Chicago 1868-), divorced before 1910
